Hot air balloons soar high above dusty purple desert mountains which harbor, nestled in a canyon, a treasure trove of California history. These festive and colorful airships serve to begin the celebration of two worlds merged: Steampunk and one of the last authentic remaining silver mining towns in Southern California, Calico Ghost Town. 
Wooden sidewalks are strewn with lovely ladies in feathered hats, monocles, gloves and tapestry coats; The melancholy waltz of a string quartet echos through the streets where miners used to walk 100 years ago; and now where couples adorned in stylized futuristic Victorian frocks dance under the stars.
